Using a Volumetric Concrete Mixer to Increase Profits

The Volumetric Mixers Manufacturers Bureau (VMMB) was formed more than 20 years ago to assure users that volumetric mixers meet ASTM and ACI standards, to promote the use of the equipment through education, and awareness, and to improve the professionalism of the manufacturers and operators of mobile mixers. Jerry Stoner, chairman of the board of the VMMB and president of Zimmerman Industries explains how the VMMB has achieved those goals.
"There's more and more customers every year," said Stoner, who said the greatest challenge in the immediate past has been acquiring parts. "You'd think COVID would slow you down but it didn't."
Stoner said driver shortages have made it harder for customers to get concrete when they want it.
"You have people going into business to fufill that need where you have contractors that can't get concrete when they want it, so they're buying their own to do some of the special applications to fill that void," he said.
Stoner said there are not many limitations on what volumetric mixers are capable of.
"It just amazes me so many times that so many things are being done that aren't always related to concrete, they still use the same machine to do other things," Stoner said.
