Concrete contractors are placing more mixes designed to meet the owner's goal of lowering the project's carbon footprint. Developing a plan to ensure these green mixes are workable for the entire pour requires a team effort between contractors, ready-mixed concrete producers and the approving engineer. The ASCC and NRMCA published the Checklist for Concrete Producer-Concrete Contractor Fresh Concrete Performance Expectations to foster this cooperation.
The two-page checklist streamlines the discussion that should occur in a pre-contract meeting between the concrete producer and concrete contractor. The checklist clearly defines each party's responsibility for the fresh concrete's performance by supplying an organizational framework for a partnering process. This document focuses only on the properties of the fresh concrete and is not a part of the contract documents.
Using this checklist will ensure that there will be a workable mix from the first to the last truck. This consistency will yield greater contractor productivity and increases in delivery efficiencies.
The learning objectives of this session will focus on the "how-tos" of three key factors:
Reviewing the mix's recipe to ensure a green and workable mix.
Assigning the responsibility for the job site addition of mixing water, air control admixtures, and water-reducing admixtures.
Managing mix adjustments to provide set times that minimize finishing periods
Contractors, architects and engineers who attend this webinar will be given a Certificate of Attendance for self-reporting certification purposes.
