HydraPure UV & Ozone AOP Sanitization System

As the safety of loved ones continues to be top-of-mind, many consumers are wondering if traditional chlorination systems are doing enough to keep their pool water clean. Thankfully, there’s no more need to wonder, because the new HydraPure® UV & Ozone AOP Sanitization System by Hayward® provides best-in-class complementary sanitization and makes achieving cleaner, safer water easier than ever. The all-in-one system utilizes Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) to combine UV and ozone, producing hydroxyl radicals—powerful oxidants that destroy a range of organic contaminants.

The following three techniques could easily be covered individually, but the most advanced systems like Hayward’s leading HydraPure Sanitization System combine them to maximize their individual benefits, significantly reducing chlorine consumption in the process (note: HydraPure must be used in tandem with an existing chlorination system). Here is a quick overview of each component:

  • UV systems sanitize the water using shortwave light to neutralize organic contaminants like bacteria, viruses, and other nasty germs.

  • Ozone systems use Ozone (O3) to destroy chlorine-resistant microorganisms, along with chemicals like chloramines and nitrogen compounds.

  • Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) systems combine UV and ozone to produce hydroxyl radicals (OH) that sanitize faster than ozone and quickly oxidizes without lingering smells or harmful residuals.

You may have noticed that the only elements listed above were hydrogen (H) and some form of oxygen (O). That’s what makes 3-in-1 sanitizers so powerful. Not only do they use complementary systems to maximize the sanitization potential—they do it all without even needing to bring chlorine or metals (like calcium and sodium) into the equation.

Rather than creating an alphabet soup of chemical elements in the pool, 3-in-1 sanitizers keep H2O full of only more H’s and O’s. Impressive, right?

This advanced process is capable of destroying 99.9%* of chlorine-resistant viruses and bacteria. Better still, HydraPure dramatically reduces the amount of chlorine required (as much as 60%!), resulting in a safe and eco-friendly sanitization option for cleaner, healthier water.

A new sleek design is coming in 2023 that has a 30% smaller footprint than legacy models. Also, the all-in-one design is fast and simple to install with a rotatable lid for easy access to the control panel and notification lights that make maintenance easy. It operates efficiently with low head loss at flow from 10-120 GPM without requiring a bypass. It is also easy to winterize.

HydraPure continuously oxidizes your pool with the strongest “non-chlorine” shock available. Since UV, ozone and hydroxyl radicals reduce the amount of chlorine required for effective sanitization there is less chlorine maintenance needed when working with pool chlorination which reduces chlorine demand. HydraPure not only provides an added layer of sanitization—it reduces irritating chloramines for softer, gentler water minimizing eye and skin irritation while making the water cleaner and healthier, too.

Available in 120V corded or 120V/240V conduit connections and as an Expert Line™ product, they are only available through your local pool professional and come with a 3-year limited warranty and 1-year limited warranty on UV and Ozone lamps when purchased from a Totally Hayward® Partner.
