Slag Cement Projects Demonstrate Sustainable Concrete Construction
The Slag Cement Association’s Slag Cement in Sustainable Concrete Awards highlight 13 construction projects that showcase the applications of slag cement and its impact on creating more durable and sustainable concrete.
The Slag Cement Association (SCA) recently announced the recipients of its 2021 Slag Cement In Sustainable Concrete Awards program. These awards were unveiled and celebrated this week during the American Concrete Institute Spring Convention.
Thirteen construction projects from across the United States were chosen to showcase the broad applications of slag cement and its impact on creating more durable and sustainable concrete.
The award-winning project demonstrate the long-term performance enhancements allowing designers to reduce the environmental footprint of concrete while ensuring improved performance and increased durability. Another key attribute mentioned in the projects descriptions was the architectural enhancement slag cement contributes to the finished structure’s appearance.
“This year’s winners include notable infrastructure and paving projects. All of these winners illustrate how slag cement works to improve the durability of concrete while lowering the embodied carbon associated with concrete production,” reported the association,
