Nature-Inspired Composite Cladding Earns Sustainability Award
Made almost entirely from mixed recycled plastic and wood fiber content, Wildwood cladding from Fiberon was recently recognized for its value as a green building product.
Fiberon’s Wildwood composite cladding recently earned a Green Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. These awards recognize products and projects that “are leading the global way to a design that is fully sustainable and compatible with the highest standards of good environment,” according to the organization.
Wildwood composite cladding is made from 94% mixed recycled plastic and wood fiber content and is crafted in Fiberon plants utilizing a closed-loop system to conserve water. The company says these systems “store and recycle the same water every day, preventing billions of gallons of water from ending up in the waste stream.”
Wildwood is available in two nature-inspired collections and a variety of board lengths and widths. The cladding cuts and installs similarly to real wood, according to Fiberon, and does not require the same staining and painting maintenance that wood requires.
