Registration Open for June ASTM International Masonry Symposium
Registration is now open for the ASTM International 2022 Masonry Symposium: Advancing Masonry Technology, to be held June 14, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Seattle, Washington. Presentations includes papers on masonry’s contribution to sustainable construction and suggestions for improved field testing.
Every three or so, researchers and practitioners host a symposium on the state of masonry products and constructions. The 2022 Symposium is co-sponsored by the ASTM committees on cement (C01), lime (C07), mortars and grouts for unit masonry (C12), and manufactured masonry units (C15). The day-long event will be held in conjunction with the committees June standards development meetings.
Symposium co-chairs Brian Trimble and Jamie Farny have gathered an interesting group of 16 presenters and papers. Industry professionals will have an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in masonry. As with previous symposiums, many of the papers will focus trends on masonry materials, design, testing, and installation. Much of this information is routinely used to improve not only the performance of masonry construction, but also ASTM standards and building codes that govern its manufacture and assembly.
It’s not too surprising that the 2022 symposium has a healthy amount of content focused on sustainability. Several papers will discuss innovations have led to new variations on new products and masonry systems that add to a structure’s performance contribution to improving the environment and reducing its carbon footprint.
